Q: How will my appointments be charged?
Intake fees are divided into 2 installments. These include an initial installment to be paid on-line at the time of scheduling and a second installment to be paid in office at the time of the appointment. Fees for follow-up appointments must be paid either on-line or in office and may be required either at the time of scheduling or at the time of appointment.
We understand that this may be a new way of scheduling appointments for a lot of our patients. Please feel free to contact us via phone or for assistance. As we highly value our patients, let us try to accommodate you.
Note: Per practice policy, all fees must be paid by the time of appointment.
Q: What insurance do you accept?
Mid Carolina Psychiatry is a 100% self-pay service. At your request, the practice will provide patients with an invoice of services rendered so that patients may bill their insurance at their own convenience. It is the patient’s responsibility to update all demographic information with practice.
Q: What is your appointment cancellation/refund policy?
Patients will receive a refund of pre-paid fees for all cancellations made 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment. Please note that in the event that patient has cancelled greater than 2 consecutive appointments or greater that 4 appointments total per year the practice reserves the right to retain a $80.00 cancellation fee from the refund. Per practice policy patients will be charged the full session fee for missed appointments where a 24-hour notice has not been given.
Q: How do I know which type of appointment to schedule?
Initial Psychiatric Intakes and Medication Follow-up appointments are medical evaluations intended to assess for appropriateness of initiating or continuing medication management. Depending on the nature of the patient request, these appointments will be scheduled with either a psychiatrist or with a medical extender.
Initial Psychotherapy Intakes and Psychotherapy Follow-up appointments are designed to assess for level and type of care required for initial therapy and routine. Multiple treatment modalities may be utilized and the nature, degree, and duration of treatment interventions will be determined by the patient and the clinician at the time of appointments.
All patients who are either new to our practice or who are returning to the practice following a greater than a 2-year absence will require one or both of the above mentioned intakes depending upon the level of service desired by patient or recommended by clinician. Intakes are our highest level evaluations and patient should expect that sessions will require between 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete.
Q: Is there anything that I need to do in preparation for my appointments?
Based upon a particular client’s individual presenting issues the practice may contact patient via the secure patient portal to request that patient complete additional information of clinical assessment electronically prior to a pending appointment. This may occur prior to intake and during an interim between follow-up appointments. Please be aware of this so that this information may be completed and returned in as timely a manner as possible. Though completion of these assessments is highly encouraged, their completion is obviously not mandatory. These evaluations are intended to enhance overall treatment and monitoring of symptoms. Current research strongly supports this approach as significantly improving overall treatment outcomes.
Q: When should I plan to arrive for my appointment?
We recommend that patients arrive 20 minutes prior to time of appointment.
